GET ME THE PRODUCER!
PROGRAMME 1
PROGRAMME OUTLINE
00.00 – 08.40
We are introduced to Greg Dyke and the 12 participants, each of whom are hoping to win a year's contract as a producer with a top independent TV company. The 12 are split into two teams of six and Greg picks the first two producers, Johnathan and Karen. They all visit GMTV studios and get some tips from presenters Andrew Castle, Fiona Phillips and Lorraine Kelly.
08.41 – 19.44
The teams are given the first challenge: to make two five-minute TV programmes: a cooking item and a demonstration. They are told the rules and given a £500 budget. They begin to plan and are introduced to their mentors, Jeremy Salsby (Team A) and Ruth Joseph (Team B), who will also act as their editors. Team A goes home to reconsider their plans, whilst Team B fails to find a willing member of the public to take part.
19.45 – 23.22
Team A returns to their producer's original idea. Meanwhile, Team B interviews elderly actresses and decides to use some of the budget to pay professional fees. Cracks are beginning to appear in both teams.
23.23 – 39.15
The teams get to see their studios and the professionals who will be working with them. As filming gets underway, the problems within both teams become more intense. The programmes are beamed into Greg's office, for him, Ruth and Jeremy to watch and judge.
39.16 – end
Greg outlines his thinking to the editors and they relay the news of who has won to the teams. Greg talks to Karen and her researchers about what went wrong, and the importance of leadership skills. He recalls Karen for a one-to-one discussion and, instead of sending her straight home, he offers her a deal: Karen can stay but she must take on the lowly runner role. She agrees.
