PROGRAMME 2: ZANDER PERCIVAL – SMOKING IN CARS

Zander is a 17-year-old student from Hertfordshire determined to protect children from passive smoking in cars. As a child, Zander had a serious asthma attack caused by his parents smoking in the car. Unsurprisingly, he now feels passionately that this shouldn't happen to another child. Wanting nothing less than an all-out ban on smoking in cars that carry children under 16, Zander starts his Battlefront campaign.

'You Smoke I Choke' is his marketing line, which attracts praise from the medical profession as well marketing experts, but can his organisational skills match his vision?

PROGRAMME AIMS

• To outline the dangers to children of smoking in cars
• To encourage young people to be aware of how they could be breathing in other people's smoke and the harm this can cause
• To encourage young people to challenge smoking in confined spaces
• To discuss how best to run a campaign
• To look at the skills needed to be a successful campaigner.
