PROGRAMME 5: THE LAST DAY AT THE CLINIC

Vanessa, Tony and Sandie are each addicted to drugs or alcohol and have spent five days at a treatment centre near Harrogate. It is their final day at the centre, and this programme looks back at their journey and discusses ways to support each patient when he or she leaves the centre. We also see how a heroin addict from a separate programme has succeeded in overcoming his addiction, and the tips and practical advice he gives Vanessa.

PROGRAMME AIMS

• To illustrate that addiction can be successfully treated with the correct help and a real motivation to succeed
• To give an example of another addict and how he overcame his drug misuse
• To provide hope and encouragement to anyone addicted, or on the way to being addicted, to any activity or substance
• To be clear that there are no quick fixes to overcoming addiction
• To suggest strategies for success.
