We discover what will happen to Tony's body if he keeps drinking. His liver will get worse and worse and eventually stop working, and then he will die. The psychiatrist spells this out to him and says that he will not live to retirement age. They look at ways to live without drinking and how to avoid alcohol.

The presenter talks with Tony about what the psychiatrist said to him about his liver.
09.08 – 10.54
In the TV studio, the presenter talks to Dr Vincenti, Tony's psychiatrist, about what will happen if Tony does not give up alcohol and the fact that he has to weigh up what he gets out of drinking against the health problems it causes.
10.55 – 15.07
We see how Sandie is getting on, halfway through her stay at the clinic. She and her husband talk together about the effect the drugs have on their physical and sexual life. He feels like her carer and she feel unfeminine. We learn how taking prescription drugs for depression and anxiety is fine at first, as a short-term measure, but that their long-term use causes problems.
15.08 – 16.04
Her husband is interviewed in the TV studio about how Sandie is getting on.
16.05 – 17.43
All three patients participate in a group discussion with Dr Labinjo, a psychiatrist, about the physiological effects of drug and alcohol misuse – for example, the heart beat can become erratic.
17.44 – 21.24
Vanessa and Sandie talk about Vanessa's lack of support from outside the clinic. Sandie is very positive about Vanessa and tries to be encouraging. Vanessa receives a phone call from her mother that really upsets her.
21.25 – 22.55
At the end of Day 3 Sandie remarks that she is thinking less and less about her tablets and Vanessa is still very upset about her mother's phone call.
22.56 – end
