Getting into print
There’s an art to getting into print so make sure you follow our five-point plan below:

  1. Keep your letter short and simple. Make one strong point and say it in 150 words or less. The most widely read letters are one sentence long!

  2. Get straight to the point.

  3. Facts can be useful to make your point but don’t pack in too many.

  4. Make sure your letter is either typed or written clearly and give your age.

  5. Enclose a photo or drawing to illustrate your point. For example, you may be asthmatic and want to see less traffic in your area; ask a friend to snap you with your inhaler alongside a busy road.

TOP TIP

If you don’t spot your letter in print, don’t waste time worrying. Just write again!

This idea was taken from a Friends of the Earth book called 'Causing A Stink - The Eco Warrior's Handbook' by Caroline Clayton, published by Bloomsbury Publishing Plc.
