Use your local MP
MPs are very influential people. They can help your campaign by pulling strings with the council or other groups in your area. They are also influential nationally and even internationally. They can write or speak directly about issues with the people high up in the government.

Lobbying your MP is a top eco warrior activity. It means writing to him or her, and sometimes meeting up to talk about your concerns or to hand over petitions. You can meet your MP either at the House of Commons (make an appointment first) or at their surgery (that's MP speak for their local office). Your local library will have details of when and where the surgeries are.

If your MP isn't very helpful, you can write directly to a government minister. They are moved from job to job regularly so ring up first to make sure you’ve got the right name.

For your MP's or any MP's e-mail address try:
www.parliament.uk/directories/hciolists/alms.cfm.
All MPs' email addresses and websites – if they have one – are found here.

This idea was taken from a Friends of the Earth book called 'Causing A Stink – The Eco Warrior's Handbook' by Caroline Clayton, published by Bloomsbury Publishing Plc.
