International Companies
The HUGE companies that operate across the world are very powerful. Some of them exploit the differences between different countries' laws. Some locate their factories in countries with lower environmental standards where they can get away with producing pollution and exploiting local workers.

For example, the oil companies, which try so hard to appear clean and green over here, have been responsible for causing serious pollution problems in the ‘developing’ world.

This idea was taken from a Friends of the Earth book called 'Causing A Stink - The Eco Warrior's Handbook' by Caroline Clayton, published by Bloomsbury Publishing Plc.
