Your Local Council
Worried about a local problem? Contact the council officers at your local town hall.

Environmental Health Officers
They must keep the area clean and healthy, and can prosecute polluters. Sadly, they don’t always have the time or funds to solve every problem, so they need all the help they can get.

Nature Conservation Officers
Responsible for looking after important wildlife sites.

Recycling Officers
Organise recycling facilities.

Planning Officers
Consider applications to build new buildings and other developments.

Not all councils use exactly the same job titles – but every council will have someone responsible for each of these areas.

This idea was taken from a Friends of the Earth book called 'Causing A Stink - The Eco Warrior's Handbook' by Caroline Clayton, published by Bloomsbury Publishing Plc.
