do.
Look at these statements. Which are true and which are
false?
1. The richest 20 per cent of the world's people eat eleven times
as much meat and seven times as much fish as the poorest 20
percent.
2. The US has 5 per cent of the world’s population yet uses
30 per cent of its natural resources.
3. The developed world gives 25 per cent of its gross product every
year in aid.
4. Each year, dog and cat lovers in Europe and in the United States
spend $18 billion to feed their pets. Just $13 billion per year
could meet the basic needs of the world’s poorest
people.
5. The industrialised countries, with only one-quarter of the
world's population, consume nearly three-quarters of the planet's
natural resources. They also generate three-quarters of the
pollutants and waste.
6. The debt burden of 20 of the world's poorest countries could be
lifted for the cost of just one military aircraft.
