  • In the UK we use over 150 million trees worth of paper or the equivalent of a forest bigger than Wales each year.

  • Over six billion glass containers are used each year. Only 29 per cent of these are currently recycled. At least 1.5 million tonnes per year go to landfill sites, even though glass does not rot away in the ground.

  • Only about one-third of rubbish in the average dustbin is really rubbish.
