children get to school. For reasons ranging from security to
convenience, the school run chokes our streets and encourages
obesity and lack of fitness among our pupil population.
Ask your friends what hazards there are on the journey to school.
What alternatives they can suggest? What are their plus points?
What are their negatives? Ask them to list the pros and cons of
each.
What are your friends' ideas of the disadvantages of motorcars? Are
they aware of human health problems like asthma, acid rain and
global warming issues, the problems caused by scrap materials
including battery acid, used motor oil and antifreeze? Do they know
about the huge amount of resources used in manufacturing
cars?
