Mr Tiger's Oatmeal Treats

Please remember Mr Tiger is a very unusual Tiger.
Do not offer oatmeal treats to any other Tiger you may meet, they won't appreciate it. You enjoy the treats and let them get on with hunting their own food.

                    Equipment:

Some weighing scales
A medium size mixing bowl
A shallow baking tin measuring 28 x 18cm - well greased.
A wooden or plastic spoon
An oven
A saucepan
An adult to help
top
                    Ingredients:
50g whole jumbo oats
60g porridge oats
75g demerara sugar
110g margarine or butter
top
                    Method:

Ask an adult to turn the oven on for you. It needs to be heated to gas mark 5, 375ºF, 190ºC.
First weigh out the oats and sugar, place them in the mixing bowl and mix them together as evenly as possible.
Gently melt the margarine/butter in a saucepan. Ask an adult to help you with this. Tell them not to let it go brown.
When the margarine/butter is melted, ask for help to pour it into the bowl with the oats and sugar. Mix it up with the spoon until everything is well blended.
Now all you have to do is tip the mixture into the greased baking tin and press it out evenly. You can use your hands for this.
Ask an adult to help you place the tin on the middle shelf of the oven. Bake for 15 minutes, or until it turns a nice, pale gold colour.
Ask for help to remove the tin from the oven and to cut the mixture into 12 portions. Do this while it is still warm, so be careful with the hot surfaces.
Leave it in the tin until cold and crisp. Then enjoy!
