Services for adolescents
Adolescence can be one of the most demanding and trying stages of human development. As young people bridge the gap between childhood and adulthood, their body undergoes a great many hormonal changes.
Social expectations shift accordingly and adjusting to this change can cause psychological stress that needs an outlet.
Many of the organisations and people that give support to adolescents are the same as the ones who help younger people. Yet the skills that these doctors, police officers and social workers need to work with teenagers are different from the ones they need to work with younger children.
For a start, children are less likely to want to have a say in how social services run their lives than adolescents.
