Barriers to accessing health care

There are many reasons why people choose not to visit the doctor or seek medical advice for their problems. Some people are so scared of the news they may receive that they choose not to go. In many cases there is nothing to fear, but fear itself.

Some people dismiss a problem that needs urgent attention. Here's a simple rule. If in doubt – get checked out.

Many people feel reluctant to visit the doctor to see what is wrong with them. While it's important not to waste a GP's time with a common cold, it is important that a person is examined if they are legitimately worried about their health.
