How to play Fairground
Spells
Each of the six games has separate instructions which you can
read when you're ready to play. You can also ask for help again at
any time during a game. However, we've written some more
information here to tell you a bit about each activity.
You've got 2 minutes on each game to win as many candy canes as you
can. If you win a bonus or run out of time the game will end but
you'll be given the chance to have another go.

Dodgems
This challenge tests your understanding
of prefixes and suffixes. These are two or three letters which are
added to the beginning of a word (prefix) or the end (suffix) to
change, or add to, the meaning of the word. Drive your dodgem on
the race track and see if you can bump the dodgem with the right
prefix or suffix. Remember there might be more than one solution -
but you have to find the one that we've chosen.

Fruit Machine
Our version of One Armed Bandit
helps you practise spelling. When the reels spin you'll see a word
- but not all of it! Some of the letters will be missing - and it's
up to you to guess the word. We've given you a clue so if you think
you know what the word is and how to spell it just type the letters
in and see how you go!

Whack a
Moley
Another chance to practise spelling, this time
with the help of some friendly moles. You'll be presented with a
row of balloons each of which has a letter hidden behind. When you
start to play, letter moles will pop from their holes - bop them on
the head with the mallet and if the letter they hold is in the
hidden word a balloon will pop and the letter will appear. As soon
as you think you've guessed the word type it in - you'll win a
candy cane if you've guessed right.

Test your Skill
Let's see what you can find hiding in
our long words. For example, the word 'internet' also contains the
word 'net'. We've chosen up to 6 words for you to find and they're
all 3 letters or more in length. For every one you find that's
correct the bell will ring and your candy cane count will
increase.

Grabber Grammar
How good are your punctuation
skills? Find out in our Grammar game. We give you a sentence, with
one word and the appropriate punctuation missing. We also give you
three possible answers to complete the sentence correctly. Check
your choices carefully as an apostrophe in the wrong place, or an
exclamation mark where there shouldn't be one, will make all the
difference!

Ferris Wheel
Our wheel isn't quite as big as
the London Eye but you'll still have fun spinning it round. Your
task on this game is to complete a word by choosing the correct
vowel pair from the wheel. Each carriage has a vowel combination on
such as ea, ie or ou. Which pair correctly finishes the word? Spin
the wheel until your choice of vowels fits.
