Shadow play
Shadows are the places that light doesn't reach.
You can use shadows to make up quizzes and questions; and to challenge
your friends.

Large sheets of white paper |

A lamp or light source; ask
your teacher to set it up |

Your pencil |
|
 |

- Put the objects on a sheet of white paper.
- Ask your teacher to put the lamp so that the shadows
are on the white paper.
- Draw round the shadows - including the holes! -
and either shade them in, or cut out the shapes from black paper.
- Ask your friends to guess what the objects were.

- Use the lamp to draw silhouettes - the shadow of
a friend's head.
- Get them to sit between the lamp and some white
paper, pinned to the wall.
- Ask them to turn so that you can see their profile
- you can see the shadow of their nose.
- Draw round their shadow onto the paper.
- Put the white paper and some black paper together.
- Cut them both out.
- Ask your friends to guess who you drew round.
- Work out a short story you could tell using shadows.
