Teeth and eating

What's the big idea?

Your food must always be clean, fresh and completely cooked.

What you eat is called your diet. A balanced diet is good for you. It contains all you need to grow and be healthy. There are many kinds of balanced diet. Some foods contain a lot that is healthy; some contain less. It is important to eat the right mix of foods, in sensible amounts.

Vegetables, meat, fish, eggs and fruit are all types of food. They contain different amounts of protein for growth and repair, carbohydrate and fats for activity, and vitamins and minerals for health.

Your teeth break up your food to make it easier to digest. Clean, healthy teeth are important - and look good. Incisors cut your food, canines hold and pierce it, and your molars grind it up.
