Channel 4 Learning

Essentials - A really useful site for 7-11 year olds

What is Essentials?

For Kids

Essentials is a colourful and entertaining set of educational websites which allow primary age children to explore the key issues in science, geography and history at Key Stage 2. They feature bright, child-friendly navigation, interactive quizzes that test your knowledge and creative activities for children to do themselves.

For teachers

All the content is designed to support the Learning Outcomes for the QCA Schemes of Work. Separate navigation is provided for teachers which allows them to access the content according to QCA unit number. In addition, the sites can be searched through the topics of the national curricula for Wales, Northern Ireland and England and the Attainment Outcomes for Scotland. There are over 150 free downloadable worksheets for teachers to use in the classroom, an extensive image bank and useful weblinks.

More information can be found within the sites themselves.
