QCA Unit 12
What's the big idea?
During Queen Victoria’s reign, Britain was transformed
into an industrial nation and the effects of that change can still
be seen today.
The landscape changed as navvies carved out cuttings and
embankments for the new railways. The towns grew as people left the
countryside to find work in the new factories.
Even building styles changed. Slate roofing tiles and brick
became widely available and Victorian manufacturers developed
processes for making large sheets of glass.
